Turkish breakfast

For today I choose, a little bit lazy topic because slowly we are reaching weekend… Of course, Thursday it is almost a weekend! Just a few more hours at work and we can enjoy our own, free time…

When you are in Turkey (or you are willing to be, just for a moment, in your own kitchen!), it’s worth, at least once to try typical village breakfast.

RULE (3)

Respect! Yourself

Respect!

Simple word, used dozen of times every day. Do we really know what does it mean?

According to the dictionary it is “a feeling or understanding that someone or something is important, serious, etc., and should be treated in an appropriate way”*
Now I’m asking you – Do you respect yourself?

Yes, you are reading correctly, there is no mistake in my question – Do you respect yourself?

RULE (2)

Love! Others

A week ago I advised to love yourself (Text can be found HERE) and I’m not gonna change my mind about it. But we can not go too far with this love as well. There has to be a place, in our hearts, for love to other people.

I’m not talking only about mother or father – those two persons who gave you life, raise you up and taught you everything you know now about life. This love is so natural, that it should not even to be discussed.

I’m not meaning also your sister or brother. They are the part of your closest family. Even if you wanna kill them sometimes, at the end always, I mean ALWAYS everything gonna be fine between you too.

I do not think also grandparents who tried to spoil you and till now most probably they see the best person in the entire world, when they look at you.

I’m not mentioning husband or wife, boyfriend or girlfriend of yours…

They all deserve your love.

They always find time for you, give your attention always when it is required. They are more than worth your love!

But if you will look really carefully, you will notice other people who need your love, and who loves you even from far. Sometimes they do not even ask for your attention, they observe you from far, while they are showing you every day, without a word, their feelings.

Hippies always say “Make love, not war” and even if they mean a little bit different way of “loving”… you should keep these words in your heart.

Love can build much better than hate, fear or blackmail. Start to appreciate what people can give you, and send same love messages into the world.

Brand new

Brand new – me!

Summer time can give you lots of topics to write about, or non. Well, I got unfortunately – non, and I’m going to treat it as a challenge!

As you can see (if you have visited my blog before) I made a few changes, both visual and content. Some categories were removed, some changed place, and also you can find few new one. Hope it will make my website more user friendly.

I’m going to keep up with Motivation Monday, in a brand new form of rules to reach your own happiness (First two posts can be found HERE and HERE), I will not give up on travel topics (including cooking from places all around the world) and self-publisher tips, but I’m gonna add my own reviews of books, tv series and movies. Nope, it does not mean it will be connected with fresh – new coming titles (ok, maybe a little), but also with the things which came into my hands in the last days – old one too.

There will be more content from my point of view, less boring facts, which can be found in every book.

So I hope you will enjoy new, refreshed idea of Monika’s Journey. Com!

RULE

Love! Yourself!

In the modern world balance between us and the rest of the world is interrupted. Every day I can see thousands of people sacrificing their own good, comfort and happiness for others.

Wives working hard at home after a whole day at the office or other “paid work”… People forgetting their dreams to please beloved… Friends giving up on theirselfs just to fix into the reality of the group…

Where there is no happiness in you, you can not give happiness to others! When the dreams and passions pass away, frustration can be born.

Where the magic happens…

There is a place in Morocco, where the magic happens. The stories of djinns and Arab princesses, dangerous warriors and good rulers, mingle with shout of local retailers. Smell of fruits intertwined with aromas of oriental spices, to die for a moment in a sea of smoke escaping from portable furnaces and ovens standing in rows next to each other.

Women dressed in “jelaba” – traditional Moroccan robes. Almost all of them have hands painted with henna. In that intricate patterns are enchanted wishes of happiness, love and protection from the evil eye.

All that happens, in the shadow of the most famous mosque of the city, next to souku, which attracts thousands of shoppers.

Bartha recipe – try it at home!

bartha

Traveling it is strictly connected with learning about the cuisine of other countries and trying new tastes. In my opinion, it is one of the advantages of living in the modern world, because a hundred years ago only “chosen” or rather “lucky” one had a chance to try dishes prepared on the second end of the world.

Indian cuisine it is really famous and has millions of fans around the Globe. Well, I like it too… but I prefer to test recipes received from housewifes living on Indian Subcontinent then from famous master chefs.

While I had a chance to stay in North India I tried a dish named “Bartha”. Even I am a strict “non-veg” I liked it very much, and a few days ago I made it by myself.

So, here comes the recipe:

Six nights in Paradise

Summer is almost around the corner! Are you dreaming about some hot summer romance? If yes, you should read what happend to Anna on her holidays!

Day one

Temptation

Anna stopped for a moment, strengthening her grip on the handle of her suitcase. Big glass door opened without a sound, letting out more sun-hungry tourists. She didn’t share their enthusiasm. Frankly speaking, she was still trying to decide whether she’d done the right thing coming back after so many years of absence.

It was too late for doubts, though. She wouldn’t get cold feet at the last minute, after all. On the other hand, the perspective of getting on the first plane and going back was very tempting.

She took a deep breath and started to walk. The glass door opened before her, as if touched by a magic wand. Waves of heat and humid air hit her. Still walking, she closed her eyes and inhaled with pleasure the long forgotten smell of Turkey.

The memories of hot days and sultry nights, crazy romances and unrequited love, happy moments spent with friends and nights she cried. Here she lived life to the full and felt all the feelings available to humans. Now all those feelings again became as real as if she had felt them the day before, and not five years ago.
